As with the rest of Honduras, chic coffee shops are serving gourmet in La Ceiba. It is refreshing to know that you can find World Class Honduras coffee right here, in La Ceiba. Following is a selection of the top coffee shops in La Ceiba where you can relax while you drink a great cup of Honduras grown coffee. A word of caution, though, it can be addictive!
Cafeto is probably my favorite coffee shop in La Ceiba. It was certainly the first serious coffee shop in town and has carved a niche for itself. It also offers a variety of pastries, as well as healthy meals and snacks. Oh, I almost forgot, the serve some of the best breakfasts in town! Cafeto has three different locations in La Ceiba. One is in the Masapan neighborhood, under the Casa Luisa Bed and Breakfast. A second location is on the D’Antoni Hospital Boulevard. The third is within the Medicentro Medical facility in La Ceiba. All three offer the same outstanding coffee, great service and friendly atmosphere. Cafeto features coffee from Finca San Isidro grown in the mountains that surround Copan Ruinas in Western Honduras.
This is a branch of the Plaza Café from Gracias, Lempira. They have outlets in Gracias, Santa Rosa de Copan and La Ceiba. They serve coffee grown in their farms in the mountains around Gracias. The coffee shop is on the second floor of Uni Plaza, across the street from the D’Antoni Hospital. They also offer great pastries and a nice selection of healthy sandwhiches. They are open daily from 7:00 a.m.
A new alternative in town, found within the El Sauce neighborhood. They are across the street from Little Cesars Pizza. Avelar’s shares the venue with a chicken restaurant called Super Chicken. They have a great little meeting room that you can reserve for a special meeting. Ask about the selection of gourmet coffees from different coffee growing regions in Copan. You can choose a coffee from Copan, Lempira and Marcala, to name a few.
A nice chic coffee shop that is within the Plaza Premier Toronjal, next to La Colonia and Diunsa. Trio serves great coffee and offers a variety of bites that are a perfect match to go with your gourmet cup of coffee. The establishment doubles up as a coffee shop, a bike store and a facility for small meetings. Very pleasant setting. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and early dinner.
This is the original, fast food coffee outlet in town. Expresso Americano Americano has several different locations in La Ceiba. They have two outlets at Mall Megaplaza, one at UniPlaza and a large locale at Plaza Premier. Finally, there is a downtown alternative in the Gran Hotel Paris, which is at Central Park. Although they do not serve gourmet coffee, their coffee is above average and 100% Honduran.
La Sabrosa is a bakery that also serves good coffee. They have several outlets throughout town, but the main one is in Barrio Alvarado. They serve great sweet breads and cakes. A nice indoor setting with a view to the street allows you see people going on to their daily chores. Another branch is open at Plaza Toronjal, between Diunsa and La Colonia Supermarket. If you are looking for a sweet bite to go with your coffee, this is a great alternative!
