An authentic Honduran – Caribbean restaurant with truly affordable prices. Not fancy, not elegant, but clean and even a bit eclectic, Bungalow is a great place to see a bit of local flair. With food cooked by Norman, the owner himself, a Garifuna fellow who spent years as a cook aboard ships traveling the World, Bungalow offers a bit of everything. Food can have a touch of Cajun flair, and beers are truly ice cold. Bungalow is open daily for lunch and dinner, except on Wednesdays, when they are closed. Normally open till midnight, they offer Karaoke sing alongs at night.

Authentic Italian Pizza prepared by an Italian himself! Agostino is an Italian turned Honduran, who has been living in Tela for as long as I can remember. Friendly atmosphere, tasty pizza, ice cold beer and fair prices. This is a perfect combination if you ask me! Mama Mia also offers Italian dishes and burgers. Located at Avenida Guatemala, a couple of blocks from the beach. Pizza Mama Mia is one of the popular Tela Restaurants when it comes to tourists spending several days in town!
El Delfin at Telamar Resort
The grandaddy of tourism in Tela, Telamar offers several options for lunch within its premises. Perhaps the most popular is “El Delfin” located right on the beach. This thatched roof building offers the best views of the beach, direct access to the cool tradewinds and protection from the hot sun. During the day you will find a pleasant relaxed atmosphere which transforms into a more festive mood after sunset. Menu specialties are seafood dishes and cocktails, and the full service bar offers the coldest beers on the beach in Tela.
Bella Vista at Telamar Resort
If you want a more elegant setting, with the comfort of air-conditioning, an elegant buffet, great beach and ocean views, then Bella Vista is the place for you! Keep in mind that there is a dress code here, so no bathing suits and sleeveless shirts for men and certainly no bare feet! In addition to the buffet selection, an a la carte menu is also available. Bella Vista is open for breakfast from 7:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m., for lunch from noon till 3:00 p.m. and dinner from 8:30 to 9:30. Please note that buffet is not set up when the hotel occupancy is very low!

For a more informal, retro atmosphere that will take you back to the 1960’s when Honduras was still very much a “Banana Republic” plan on dining at Guaruma. A pleasant setting facing one of the pools at Telamar, with a nice menu that features grilled dishes, Guaruma is the perfect place for an informal, yet classy family lunch in Tela.
Luces del Norte
An institution in Tela! Luces del Norte has been around for a long time, and has garnered quite a reputation for their outstanding food. Their seafood soups are absolutely terrific. They also have the best Spanish Paella in town as well as chicken, beef and pork dishes. Their specialty is without doubt fresh fish and seafood. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7:00 a.m till 9:00 p.m., you simply can’t go wrong with the food here. Owner, Dona Mercedes is always on premises to insure the best of service. Luces del Norte is located only one block from the beach. Full international bar service and great ice cold beers.
A nice restaurant located at the Capitan Beach hotel. A two story wooden structure with a thatched roof offers poolside seating as well as a second floor covered deck looking out to the sea. You choose the ambiance, but the food is always great here. Full international bar service is available. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Puma Venecia is the perfect spot to catch a quick lunch in Tela. Actually located on the main CA13 highway, almost at the detour towards Tornabe, Puma Venecia is complex that offers gasoline, a convenience store, a hotel and a cafeteria buffet style restaurant with different tasty alternatives to choose from. Prices are fair and the food is good. Service is friendly. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. If you are driving past Tela and need a quick stop for clean bathrooms and a quick bite, this is one of the best alternatives!
Almost 20 years old, El Bambino offers some of the best pizza in town. Try their “Pizza Catracha”, or Honduran Pizza. El Bambino also offers great smoothies as well as outstanding chicken wings. They are very much a family oriented restaurant and offer some children’s playground on premises. Open daily from 10 to 10. They are located at the south side of the eastern end of the new bridge over the Lancetilla River.
Located at the Mayavista Hotel, this restaurant offers the best views of Tela. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Mayavista offers a full service bar and a menu that includes international dishes prepared with local ingredients, providing an interesting set of flavors.
An institution in Tela! This has been the steak house in Tela for ages. Steak house is a sister restaurant of the La Plancha restaurant in La Ceiba. Steak house is located right on the beach in Tela, next to the bridge that connects Tela Nueva and Tela Vieja. Open daily for lunch and dinner, they serve a good steak cooked to perfection. If you are looking for Tela restaurants that offer outstanding beef, this is certainly one of the top choices.
Located at the Caribbean Coral Inn, right on the beach in Triunfo de La Cruz. La Banana offers great, home cooked meals prepared with diligence and plenty of hygiene. Carolina, the owner / manager of the Inn and her family, Don Emilio and kids personally look after their guests and make sure that you are fully satisfied. Great seafood dishes. Menu may change from day to day, depending on availability of fresh ingredients, but the service is always outstanding!
One of the newer Tela restaurants, Los Arrierros is located behind the park in honor to maternity. Los Arrieros specializes in grilled steaks, as well as latin American cuisine. Open daily from 11:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. it is one of the best spots in town if you are looking for a good steak. Ice cold beer, a full service bar and a pleasant setting have made it very popular with locals.
Bazul at Indura Beach Resort

A traditional Caribbean seafood restaurant located on the pedestrian street in Tela, facing the beach, Arrecife is famous for its seafood platter. Open Wednesday to Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 8:00 a.m. Arrecife transforms itself into a festive beach bar after hours, especially on Friday and Saturday, when it is sometimes open till sunrise! They have a full service international bar and serve ice cold beer.
Looking for a quick, affordable bite? Pollo Campesino is a great option! Although there are no fast food franchises from North America in Tela, you can certainly find this Honduran Franchise in town. An authentic Italian restaurant, owned and managed by Italian expats, who are the epitome of Italian hospitality; this establishment offers outstanding pizza and pasta. Full international bar, a nice selection of wines and ice cold beer. Seating options include a pleasant inside alternative and on the sidewalk seating; reminiscent of Italian street side cafes. Open Tuesday to Thursday for dinner from 4:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. From Friday to Sunday open for lunch and dinner from 10:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Pizzeria Bella Italia is located right on the beachfront pedestrian street in Tela. You simply cannot miss it!
Very much part of local folklore, Cafeteria Tuty’s is located in the heart of Tela, just across Garifuna Tours on the main square. This is where the locals meet and catch up with everyday happenings, while enjoying a cup of coffee or some breakfast “pastelitos”. It is also one of the first places to open in the morning, so if you are an early riser, or need to get going early in the morning, then this is probably your best alternative in Tela, as they offer breakfast as early as 6:00 a.m. Variety of fresh fruit juices, 100% natural orange and grapefruit juices. Also a good lunch served at noon time. Open till 10:00 p.m. Closed on Sundays. Nothing fancy, but definitely clean and hygienic.
