Atlantida’s Magical Cangrejal River Valley
“Imagine… its easy if you try…”
Imagine a beautiful crystal clear river flowing in between steep mountains fully clad with a dense tropical rain forest suit. Now imagine keel billed toucans flying across the river, and amazon kingfishers catching a fish in the river. Finally, imagine huge granite boulders, some the size of a two story building forcing the water to find its way to continue down river. Small falls and lovely pristine natural water pools inviting you to jump into the temperate waters of the river. High above the gorge made by the river, a hanging or swing bridge joins both banks of the river and leads you into jungle trails that will ultimately lead you to a 200 foot waterfall…
So Much to see and Do, You Won’t Want to Leave!
If you are having trouble imagining such a place, I invite you to visit the Cangrejal River Valley. It is just 6 miles from the city of La Ceiba in Atlantida. You will find that paradise does exist, and that it is actually easy to get to! Best of all, it is almost on your route towards the Bay Islands of Honduras!
The Cangrejal River Valley offers a variety of activities. These include from white water rafting and rappelling down hidden waterfalls in the jungle, to zip lining through the forest canopy or hiking through the tropical jungles of Pico Bonito National Park and Nombre de Dios National Park. You can even do some mountain biking or horseback riding through jungle trails… the possibilities are almost endless.
If you are into bird watching, this is paradise. The Pico Bonito National Park is considered one of the top bird watching hot spots in Honduras. For that matter, it is one of the best of all of Central America! Top it all off with a selection of unique eco lodges and boutique accommodations available on site at the Cangrejal River Valley. There are also some outstanding restaurants in the Cangrejal River for you to enjoy.
If there is one spot in mainland Honduras you should not miss, it is the Cangrejal River Valley. It truly is one of the brightest shining stars of Honduras!
